At some point in its life, your garage door will struggle. After years of battling the elements day in, day out, and opening and closing countless times, your garage door will begin to wear down. This is natural. There may come a time, however, when this wear and tear becomes too much and a decision must be made: repair or replace your garage door?

Here is when we think your garage door should be repaired…
Superficial damage
If there is some superficial damage to your garage door, perhaps some scratching or denting on a particular panel, then this is something that would probably be best sorted by a simple repair job. However, it’s a good idea to check the damage thoroughly before you make your final decision. That is, if any of the damage extends to the mechanism, then you should definitely reconsider.
The problem was sudden
If you are experiencing problems with your garage door, how these problems came about can often be a good indicator of how the problems should be dealt with. If your garage door suddenly stopped working, then this might suggest that it’s a repair job. Simply call up your garage door technician, and they should be able to identify and fix the problem fairly quickly.
Safety hazard
Although it’s extremely important, it may be difficult to understand and identify exactly when your garage door has become a safety hazard. Consequently, if you think for any reason that there is something wrong with your garage door, it is probably safest to call a technician to check it out. It’s most likely a simple fix, but it’s better to be safe than sorry!

Kerb appeal can simply be understood as how attractive your house looks from the side of the road, and how this ultimately affects the value of your house. So, if you replace your garage door with a beautiful, brand new one, it could end up paying for itself when you come to sell your home!
The problem was gradual
If the problems you are experiencing with your garage door happened slowly over a long period of time, this is a good indication it’s time for an upgrade. Especially if you think your garage door was reaching the end of its life cycle anyway, perhaps it’s time to bite the bullet and get it replaced.
Rusted, cracked, warped…
If your garage door is merely damaged on one panel, then it would be ridiculous to replace the whole thing. However, if your garage door has damage that spreads across its entire structure, then this is certainly something that needs replacing.
